1The righteous is delivered from trouble, and the wicked walks into it instead.
With his mouth the godless man would destroy his neighbor, but by knowledge the righteous are delivered.
2When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish there are shouts of gladness.
By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but 3by the mouth of the wicked 4it is overthrown.
Whoever 5belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding remains silent.
Whoever 6goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered.
Where there is 7no guidance, a people falls, 8but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.
9Whoever puts up security for a stranger will surely suffer harm, but he who hates striking hands in pledge is secure.
10A gracious woman gets honor, and 11violent men get riches.
12A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself.
The wicked earns deceptive wages, but one who 13sows righteousness gets a sure reward.
Whoever is steadfast in righteousness 14will live, but 15he who pursues evil will die.
Those of 16crooked heart are 17an abomination to the LORD, but those of 18blameless ways are 19his delight.
20Be assured, 21an evil person will not go unpunished, but 22the offspring of the righteous will be delivered.
Like 23a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman without discretion.
The desire of the righteous ends only in good; 24the expectation of the wicked in wrath.
25One gives 26freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.
27Whoever brings blessing 28will be enriched, and 29one who waters will himself be watered.
30The people curse him who holds back grain, but 31a blessing is on the head of him who 32sells it.
Whoever diligently seeks good seeks favor,a but evil comes to 33him who searches for it.
Whoever 34trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will 35flourish like a green leaf.
