By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but 1by the mouth of the wicked 2it is overthrown.
Whoever 3belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding remains silent.
Whoever 4goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered.
Where there is 5no guidance, a people falls, 6but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.
7Whoever puts up security for a stranger will surely suffer harm, but he who hates striking hands in pledge is secure.
8A gracious woman gets honor, and 9violent men get riches.
10A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself.
The wicked earns deceptive wages, but one who 11sows righteousness gets a sure reward.
Whoever is steadfast in righteousness 12will live, but 13he who pursues evil will die.
Those of 14crooked heart are 15an abomination to the LORD, but those of 16blameless ways are 17his delight.
18Be assured, 19an evil person will not go unpunished, but 20the offspring of the righteous will be delivered.
Like 21a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman without discretion.
The desire of the righteous ends only in good; 22the expectation of the wicked in wrath.
23One gives 24freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.
25Whoever brings blessing 26will be enriched, and 27one who waters will himself be watered.
28The people curse him who holds back grain, but 29a blessing is on the head of him who 30sells it.
Whoever diligently seeks good seeks favor,a but evil comes to 31him who searches for it.
Whoever 32trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will 33flourish like a green leaf.
Whoever 34troubles his own household will 35inherit the wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart.
The fruit of the righteous is 36a tree of life, and whoever 37captures souls is wise.
If 38the righteous is repaid on earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner!
