1When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with 2the humble is wisdom.
3The integrity of the upright guides them, 4but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them.
5Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, 6but righteousness delivers from death.
The righteousness of the blameless 7keeps his way straight, but the wicked falls by his own wickedness.
8The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the treacherous 9are taken captive by their lust.
When the wicked dies, his 10hope will perish, and 11the expectation of wealtha perishes too.
12The righteous is delivered from trouble, and the wicked walks into it instead.
With his mouth the godless man would destroy his neighbor, but by knowledge the righteous are delivered.
13When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish there are shouts of gladness.
By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but 14by the mouth of the wicked 15it is overthrown.
Whoever 16belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding remains silent.
Whoever 17goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered.
Where there is 18no guidance, a people falls, 19but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.
20Whoever puts up security for a stranger will surely suffer harm, but he who hates striking hands in pledge is secure.
21A gracious woman gets honor, and 22violent men get riches.
23A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself.
The wicked earns deceptive wages, but one who 24sows righteousness gets a sure reward.
Whoever is steadfast in righteousness 25will live, but 26he who pursues evil will die.
Those of 27crooked heart are 28an abomination to the LORD, but those of 29blameless ways are 30his delight.
31Be assured, 32an evil person will not go unpunished, but 33the offspring of the righteous will be delivered.
Like 34a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman without discretion.
The desire of the righteous ends only in good; 35the expectation of the wicked in wrath.
36One gives 37freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.
38Whoever brings blessing 39will be enriched, and 40one who waters will himself be watered.
41The people curse him who holds back grain, but 42a blessing is on the head of him who 43sells it.
Whoever diligently seeks good seeks favor,b but evil comes to 44him who searches for it.
Whoever 45trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will 46flourish like a green leaf.
Whoever 47troubles his own household will 48inherit the wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart.
The fruit of the righteous is 49a tree of life, and whoever 50captures souls is wise.
If 51the righteous is repaid on earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner!
