Those who forsake the law 1praise the wicked, but those who keep the law 2strive against them.
Evil men 3do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD 4 understand it completely.
5Better is a poor man who 6walks in his integrity than a rich man who is 7crooked in his ways.
The one who keeps the law is a son with understanding, but 8a companion of gluttons shames his father.
Whoever multiplies his wealth 9by interest and profita 10gathers it for him who is 11generous to the poor.
If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his 12prayer is an abomination.
Whoever misleads the upright into an evil way 13will fall into his own pit, but the blameless 14will have a goodly inheritance.
A rich man is wise in his 15own eyes, but a poor man who has understanding 16will find him out.
When 17the righteous triumph, there is great glory, but when 18the wicked rise, people hide themselves.
Whoever 19conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who 20confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.
Blessed is the one who 21fears the LORD always, but whoever 22hardens his heart will fall into calamity.
Like 23a roaring lion or 24a charging bear is 25a wicked ruler over a poor people.
A ruler who 26lacks understanding is a cruel oppressor, but he who hates unjust gain will prolong his days.
If one is burdened with 27the blood of another, he will be a fugitive until death;b let no one help him.
28Whoever 29walks in integrity will be delivered, but he who is crooked in his ways will suddenly fall.
30Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits will have plenty of poverty.
A faithful man will abound with blessings, but whoever hastens to be rich 31will not go unpunished.
To show 32partiality is not good, but for 33a piece of bread a man will do wrong.
A 34stingy manc35hastens after wealth and does not know that 36poverty will come upon him.
Whoever 37rebukes a man will afterward find more favor than 38he who flatters with his tongue.
Whoever robs his father or his mother and says, "That is no transgression," is 39a companion to a man who destroys.
A greedy man 40stirs up strife, but the one who trusts in the LORD will 41be enriched.
Whoever 42trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.
Whoever 43gives to the poor will not want, but he who 44hides his eyes will get many a curse.
When 45the wicked rise, 46people hide themselves, but when they perish, the righteous increase.
